FINISHED!

Well there ya have it!  Congratulations Dave!!

Tim and a whole bunch of people burned the midnight candle last night to witness Dave's dot bounce on the finish line at 11:59pm PDT July 2nd, 2023.

This has been so amazing to watch what these riders must have endured. You can only guess what it's like

because there is no time for them to keep followers informed. However, our dear friend Doug that I've mentioned before,  played a guessing game, and I must say he did it very well. He's spent the past 24 days anticipating and living what it must be like for Dave out there. He'd sleep not much more than Dave, awake when he was, jumping on his own bike at home to spin a few for himself. He'd lay out what the day ahead might look like for Dave. Then he'd text, text, text to let us know where Dave might sleep, where he might eat, the altitude gains, the downhills, the weather and so on. He'd even check out the food options. Last night Doug sent a google earth shot of Dave pulling in to McDonald's as his last meal before tagging the border fence at Antelope Wells, New Mexico.

Though there is little time to pull over and correspond outside your headspace on the trail, Tim was tickled to receive a text from Dave high in the middle of nowhere on the map at 3:00pm on July 1st, to send Tim a happy birthday wish. THAT...was so touching.

As Doug mentioned in conversation--- it's a real head shaker to think that hockey players sign $200M contracts to give sports their best shot, while there are people like this out there giving life their best shot. No audience, just them and other like-minded testing themselves. It really is remarkable.

So on that note. I'll close Dave's adventure on this blog, but I've decided to keep the BIKE4BECKY going.  Following inspirational people and things that are hard is something I really relish. It helps me put one foot in front of the other for myself while dealing with my disease. I have to speak to my brain everyday- all day- something extreme athletes do everyday too.

This is who I am now, I am a Parkinson's Warrior athlete in a race to find a cure.

Please help with your donations and/or join to help on your own platform. Research is coming really close to finding a cure, and ways to improve life for those living with Parkinson's. The drug we have is one of the oldest drugs out there and it helps for some, but its effectiveness works less and less as the disease progresses. They are learning so much thanks to the Michael Fox Foundation that has raised so much to get us this far. We need new drugs, new gadgets, and maybe some AI might be timely as the population ages and Parkinson's becomes more prevalent.

Big thanks to those who came along with us on this journey and donated. We feel the love!!
